I Had A Llama Party All By Myself - And Free Halloween Food Tags

When I was at Walmart a few days back, I skulked over by the Clearance shelves, and there I found a big package of microwave popcorn, at just $1.50! Six packages of Llama Party popcorn! I didn't know what Llama Party popcorn was, but I grabbed it up and into the basket it went.

Last night, I couldn't sleep, so I got up and started designing digital tags. "I'm having a sleepover with myself." Once my husband is asleep, he is ASLEEP. I can play YouTube craft videos and such without waking him! I can pop popcorn and go in and out the doors with the dogs! They love it when Mommy can't sleep!

I got out some of the new beads for my rosary-making...

For a snack, I popped up a bag of the Llama Party popcorn.

It is BLUE! But the BLUE got to me! I can remember my mother (a chemist) telling me, "Never eat blue food." But...it was so pretty...so I ate up the blue popcorn! My mother said there are no natural blue foods ("But...but...but..." NO. I know what you're thinking. "Blueberries and blue potatoes are PURPLE," she would say firmly.).

I don't know why blue is associated with llamas, though. I don't believe they come in blue. I have seen quite a few mules of a peculiar hue named "Blue," though, and one of the attorneys I worked with was named Blue. And he was certainly a mulish sort of attorney! Oh, he was stubborn. But generous. When he'd win a huge settlement, we'd all get a THOUSAND BUCKS. Ah, those were the days.

I made up some Halloween tags that might be fun if anyone is having a little get-together, or maybe has a grandchild who needs to bring something for a school party. REMEMBER TO CLICK THE LINKS, NOT SAVE THE LITTLE PICTURE! The files are stored on my Google Drive account. If that ain't safe, ain't nuthin' safe.

One set is what I call "Sweet Kid Safe Tags." There are no disgusting or frightening dishes on the tags. The other set I call "Creepy," because it has quite disgusting food names that maybe teens or young adults might like. I can remember being in college and thinking gross things were funny and as they say now, "edgy." I don't know if you can read the tags when you enlarge them in the little graphic below or not.

I put up a set last year at this time, too. These tags are new wording, same backgrounds.

Tomorrow I am going to go get a COVID test, as for two days I thought I had a cold, and I couldn't smell anything. Now I feel very rotten and am uneasy and still can't smell anything. I got the vaccine and I wear K95 masks when out, per our governor's orders.

It's probably just a cold. But I haven't had a cold since the COVID thing began! Or the flu!

I know people are divided about the flu shots. I had one, though. Do you take the flu shot? I want the pneumonia shot, too, because I usually get pneumonia every year.

Kind regards,

Olde Dame Holly (Yes, I'm old!)

I did not always get the flu shot but since husband's transplant I stand in line for everything. I do hope it is not covid.

  4. I'm off microwave popcorn and back to the air popper. And when that gives up, I *think* I'll try a pan on the stove. Too many chemicals in the mw versions for my taste (literally and figuratively) any more. I hope you don't have covid. I worry that enough people have refused vaccine the virus will continue to mutate until it's too different for the vaccine to work. There is a color of fur called blue - a steely cool gray color. I know I've seen dogs, cats, horses & cows called blue, blue brindle, and blue roan. No idea why, other than it sounds more exotic than gray.

Yes, I did get the covid vaccine, have not yet gotten pneumonia or shingles ones, and used to get flu shots when I was working (didn't even need to leave work). I don't usually wear a mask out and about, but when I go the stores aren't crowded. If they are, I do put one one. And I certainly will put one on without fussing if there's a sign on the door requesting one be worn, crowded or not.

    1. We have to wear the masks until the governor lifts her mandate. I know they probably don't really work that well, but I was interested to note that I didn't get pneumonia last year and I "always" get pneumonia! Ha ha, yes "blue" animals sure sound fancier than gray animals!

  5. I tend to wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep. I usually try to spend the time praying for my huge family. Early morning is when I feel most like doing creative things, but if I stay up during the night I'll be dragging all day. *sigh* Nope, haven't had the vaccine. I think it's highly experimental and was rushed through too fast. Many vaccines contain fetal cells, so I'm not taking the risk of supporting that. Plus I'm just hyper-sensitive to so many things, I'm not going to inject something into my body which contains innumerable unknowns. I heard somewhere that 80% of people in the hospital with Covid have been fully vaccinated. I think it's all a big scam. I'm not telling anyone NOT to get vaccinated. I just don't want someone forcing ME to be vaccinated. Doctors disagree with each other. Nobody seems to know anything for sure. Okay. I'll shut up now. :)
Love your cute tags and I hope the blue popcorn didn't get to you, lol. Those beads are so pretty! God bless you and your hubby.

    1. I'm sorry to hear about your strange insomnia! It sounds like NO FUN at all! With a vaccine, I don't feel others should be forced to take it if it is against their beliefs. I was surprised at the number of doctors and nurses refusing the vaccine. But I support their right to refuse it. Or to take it.

  6. Nope no vaccine for me, I'm with Lisa. I did take a Pneumonia vaccine about 10 years ago, as I had gotten penumonia and pleurisy. We all had colds here. My son works at a NH and gets checked weekly. He was sick and it as cold, not everything is covid as they try to convince everybody. Blue popcorn...did it taste different? I hope you feel better Holly. I always thought that you didn't get a flu shot if you were sick?

    1. No, don't take the flu shot if you are sick. I wasn't sick when I got mine. I think they don't work if you are sick because your body won't do the immune thing? Ha ha such scientific thinking on my part, not! The popcorn tasted like Kettle Corn. It was good and I guess the blue was just to make it fun for kids!

  7. Blue popcorn...interesting.
I am with Lisa. No Covid shot for me...I want more data that is true. We just don't know what to believe and the "science" changes daily. No flu shot either!

    1. I don't know what to believe, either. I take the shots just in case, but I respect those who don't take the shots, too. I think there is a lot of pushy stuff with COVID, but not pushy enough in figuring out exactly what it is and where it came from! My opinion. I am not trying to be political at all!

Llama popcorn, how delightful! It's probably just food coloring added. I love that blue bowl you put it is, or is
that a plate? Oh, your new beads for Rosary making are beautiful. Sometimes we can get so much done when everything is quiet in the house, and we can appreciate so many blessings that we have around our home too. Your sleepover by yourself sounds wonderful!

  10. the only blue food i have eaten is blueberries, i don't like blue popscicles. i was raised to eat anything that did not eat me, ha ha,,, but when i was young there were no blue foods.. i don't care for blue flowers that have been bred to be blue. if nature made them blue i like them. i have had all my shots, just like my dog. once a year i get them but he gets his free. i started the yearly flu because we got them free at work, and when i retired, hubby got his also. they are free and we never get the flu .

    1. It sounds as if you have come to a good decision for you and the hubby (and the dogs!) and have everything on track healthwise. I am glad you never get the flu. I do sometimes, despite the shot, but I think it is less bad than if I didn't have the shot each year. At work they gave the shot back when I worked at good places, and they always had a big spread of FREE FOOD for those who got the shot, so everyone went and got it! Nothing like FREE FOOD! LOL.

  11. So much to think about here today, my dear Holly. (I refuse to call you OLD! Ha ha!) If the blue popcorn didn't make you hyper or sick or turn a funny color yourself, then it probably was just fine and fun. It's not like you are going to eat it all the time, right? I had blue potato chips on Southwest airlines, or was that on JetBlue? I forget. And I think there is a blue corn chip too, isn't there? maybe I'm dreaming. Anyway, all things in moderation. Well, maybe not ALL things, but things that are worth trying in moderation. LOL. Love your tags and your beads and your creativity. You are a dear dear friend. I'm so glad I found you. I hope you don't have the virus. I am praying for you and hoping it is just an old cold. Please keep us posted, and I'll be praying. Regarding the vaccine, I was against it until my son and his wife got so very very sick, and if it hadn't been for the antibodies infusion they would have been hospitalized. After being SO sick, they begged us to go ahead and get the vaccine, and we did, and thankfully had no side effects. But I truly prayed hard about it. If there is anything improper in those vaccines, i.e., fetal tissue, I would not be happy about that, but I am trusting God to take care of that. He knows, and He also knows my heart, and my conscience is clear and I have done this in good faith that He permitted me to do so. However, that being said, I respect every person's decision one way or the other regarding this. It should NOT be mandated, and I don't believe it is right for young children at all. I believe this whole thing has been hyper-politicized, and that has made it very difficult for people to discern what is true and what isn't. That's why I prayed and asked God to lead me and give me peace regarding our decision. And He has. However, whether or not I have the vaccine, I believe God is in control of my life and He will take care of me either way. I have no fear. I wear my mask when necessary in public, but thankfully we live in Florida where there are no mandates and people can use their own discretion and common sense. I am very thankful for our governor. So that is that. God is good, and I am very very thankful. The end. Have a blessed and beautiful day my dear friend Holly.

    1. I have to say I am glad you went ahead and got the vaccine. That was a close shave with your son and DIL. Too close! I know they say some were made through the research that used fetal cells. They need to harvest the fetal cells from the PLACENTAS and then that will fix the situation, in my (uneducated I admit) opinion! Our Bishops were very very against the J&J vaccine because of that, but when our turn came to get the vaccine, that was what they offered, so I did take it when they grabbed my arm, and my priest said it was okay and as you also say, he said "God's got this." I agree, things are so hyper-political now that it makes it difficult to know what is really happening. But we must remember to Give Thanks in All Circumstances! Thank you for your comment, my dear bloggie friend!!! You brighten my day. THANK YOU for your prayers, too. I feel strengthened.

  12. I love your Sleepover-for-One idea and the blue Llama Popcorn!! I didn't know the colour blue was associated
with llamas. The llamas I've seen have been quite ordinary brown and beige tones. Wouldn't it be fun to have a llama for a pet and take it for walks in the park? Our silly by-laws don't even allow anyone to keep a few chickens. (Although for many years I did anyway). I'm sure a llama would be frowned upon.
I hope your test tomorrow indicates negative. But if it is positive I hope you have a very mild case (you are after all vaxxed). I am not and I fear admitting it because some people really jump on anyone who hasn't complied. I'm thankful that my family ( who are all vaxxed good and proper) love and accept me anyway. And that's how it should be.

    1. Blue popsicles -- I would rather see a kid with a bright blue tongue than one who had eaten a cherry popsicle! I had the very bad habit of sucking all the juice out of a popsicle, leaving a hard, pastel ice behind...I am glad you also get flu shots!

  14. I just remembered the pneumonia shot! I had one, several years ago. A few months ago my doctor sent me for a chest x-ray, and I had pneumonia. I never knew. I took the drugs and it went away. I wonder if the shot helped it be so mild?

  15. Well as for the shot it put my sister in the hospital, so Bob and I decided not to get it. Too many folks we know have had bad side affects or ended up in the hospital. No flu shot either as that put my mom in the hospital for weeks. Her doctor said no more flu shots...so I figured it must be in our genes that gives us a bad reaction to shots. Not sure if I would eat blue popcorn, but I so love popcorn! I love it on Fridays because when I get off my computer at 4 I have a few hours by myself to do whatever. LOL Janice

    1. Gosh, your genes must be very sensitive to something in those shots! That sounds so dangerous. A co-worker at the last job I had, had to be extremely careful as she had a terrible reaction to something in a flu shot, the preservative or something. The blue popcorn was certainly weird looking but it tasted regular!

  16. The last time someone asked if I was vaccinated and the why I wasn't regretted it, I am certain...and you will likely regret it as well. It happened to be a dr and it turned into a very lengthy discussion. I have MANY reasons for not getting it but I will list my top 5: 1) There are no long term scientific studies proving its efficacy and, more importantly, safety (think of all the commercials that start with "Did you or someone you love take the drug "xyz" and now suffer from "abc, def, ghi, etc., etc."??) Think Chantix... Even if the results of the testing they HAVE done show it safe (dubious claim - check VAERS...more people have died of this vaccine than of all the vaccines in the past 20 years combined), what about LONG term?? (2) There is absolutely no liability on the part of the pharmaceutical companies should you have an adverse reaction/effect or even die from it.... Hmmm....the lawyer in me doesn't like the "smell" of that (3) every previous coranavirus AND mRNA vaccine has failed (4) the censorship of any meaningful scientific debate regarding it or alternative treatments and therapeutics and (5) I have several autoimmune diseases and I have to inject biologics biweekly to suppress my immune system to be able to remain upright...the idea behind the vaccine is to somewhat "jumpstart" your immune system...it doesn't seem a good idea to mess with it...not to mention that the CDC website itself says there is no data regarding the safety of the vaccine on people with autoimmune issues. I have at least 20 more if you're interested LOL. But I do pray you do not have it and in any even recover quickly from whatever you have. And gee...I didn't get to the blue stuff LOL. Sure hope I don't get one of those "Whoops" errors when I hit publish. ~Robin~

    1. I would never regret hearing your opinion! As they would say back in the South, "I ain't got a dog in that hunt." I was very disappointed to read in the news that the CDC (I think) said the vaccine I took is at 3% protection, at best, after a few months. Well, that means I'm setting here 97% uncovered, WHAT THE HAY??? Might as well have taken a shot of saline! I hope you will never catch COVID. I hope none of us catch it and I wish it would just go away, and the crazy politics (I'm an independent) with it! I am sorry to hear about your precarious health. You know I will say a rosary for your health!

    2. Thank you dear Holly...and thank you for your gracious openness to "other" opinions...there is precious little of that these days it seems. I do believe I had COVID already so hopefully I am protected by natural immunity (which, research is showing is better and longer lasting than vaccine immunity). Unfortunately natural immunity is being completely ignored. Think of all the money that would be saved by NOT vaccinating those with acquired immunity? (Or should I say, think of how much money the pharmaceutical companies would lose LOL??) I do hope you are on the mend.....

    3. PS....(and I promise I will let you be!) On the blue foods thing.... How about the blue eggs of the Ameraucana breed of chicken?? The raw egg inside is not blue, but the shell sure comes in some amazing colors of blue!

  17. Like Robin before me, I've gotten several of those Whoops errors this past week. However, I'm here to talk about blue popcorn. When I was a freshman in high school, I tried to join shop and auto mechanics classes. I came from a very small town and, even though my grandfather went to the school board trying to get me in these classes, they wouldn't relent. Of course, the NEXT year they allowed females into these classes. However, I had to take Home Ec. I was horrible at it. Regardless, I had to create tapioca pudding as a required dish. I decided to add blue food coloring to it. The instructor must have gone to school with your mother, because I got a lecture about never eating blue food and NEVER use blue food coloring, either. I almost flunked that lesson, and I still laugh about it when I get together with my high school friends and we reminisce. Thanks so much for the memories, Holly.

BTW, I understand J & J will soon have a booster I can take for COVID. I just hope you don't have it, dear.

    1. Oh my gosh, the cardinal sin of Home Ec: Purposefully serving a blue food! Naughty student! I can remember those days of girls not getting to take "boy" classes and vice versa. Very unenlightened, and now I think both shop and home ec went POOF and the students are left with really useless courses. I miss tapioca pudding! I loved that stuff! But BLUE?! Ha ha!
